The
City of Northfield Fire Department is a combination fire department.
The Fire Department is made up from the Northfield City Volunteer
Fire Company # 1 chartered in 1924 and the Career Personnel.
The Fire Department is mostly Volunteer Personnel. There are
seven (7) full time Firefighter/EMT-B’s. The Career Department
Personnel are members of the International Association of Firefighters
# 2364. Together the Fire Department is 31 members strong.
Along with Firefighting the Department
also provides Emergency Medical First responder assistance to
the Northfield Volunteer Rescue squad.
The Northfield Fire Department
along with assistance of the Linwood Fire Department and Somers
Point Fire Department have created the Mainland F.A.S.T. Team.
This is the first of a kind in this area. The three departments
have joined forces and have trained together to create a regional
Firefighter Assistance Search Team (F.A.S.T.) to assist each
other in the rescue of firefighters who become lost or trapped
in a fire emergency.
The Northfield City Volunteer Fire
Company has a State of New Jersey, Division
of Fire Safety Certified Firefighter Training Facility at the
Fire Station located on Burton Avenue. This
facility provides live fire, ventilation, Natural Gas Simulation
and LPG Gas simulation fires. Also there is a car fire mock up
and enough room for extrication training. This facility has been
used by numerous Atlantic County and Cape May County
Fire Departments. Also Law Enforcement from County and Local
Law Enforcement Agencies have utilized this facility. Currently
the South Jersey Gas Company uses this facility for there safety
training program.
The Northfield City Volunteer Fire
Company # 1 is seeking individuals who are committed to serving
their community. Training and Equipment are provided to those
who can meet the requirements. The Northfield City Volunteer
