Historical Risley Homestead

Located at 8 Virginia Avenue, it was built circa 1790 as a simple two-room farmhouse by Jeremiah Risley II or Edward Risley, ancestors of Virginia Risley Stout. Additions made in 1930's and 1940's. Only two homes in Atlantic County have been nominated for Historic Places... Somers Mansion in 1970 and Risley Homestead in 1990.

Owned by the Atlantic County Historical Society, it will be operated as a house-museum by the Society's Risley Homestead Committee:

  • Fred Ehrhardt, Chairman
  • Rev. Norman H. Thomas
  • Dorothy Sapienzo
  • Frances Reynolds
  • Elizabeth Ehrhardt

Telephone reservations for guided tours will be accepted beginning March, 1991. These are limited to individuals and small groups. For information, call 641-8976.
