Office of the Municipal Clerk

The main objective of the Office of the Municipal Clerk is to provide prompt and courteous service to the citizens of Northfield.  The Municipal Clerk serves as Secretary of the Municipal Corporation and is also responsible for a number of services such as:

• Administering Municipal elections
• Maintaining a complete and accurate record of City Council proceedings
• Providing administrative support to City Council
• Serving as custodian of all official City records
• Administering the City-wide dog & cat licensing program
• Administering the City's Mercantile licensing program

The Clerk is frequently the first contact for assistance with questions about the City or in directing inquiries to the appropriate City Official or Department.

Attention Dog and Cat Owners

The City of Northfield requires that dogs (and cats) be vaccinated for rabies, and licensed annually through the Municipal Clerk’s Office. We are also required to provide you with the following information regarding the crime of animal cruelty, and how to prevent it.
